Introducing: The WaMu Gift Account Interactive The account holder opens a secure WaMu Gift Account online. Using an easy-to-customize WaMu template, he or she sends out a secure email or prints out an informational card that can be snail mailed in an envelope (say for example, along with a baby shower or wedding invitation) stating the account is “open” with easy-to-follow instructions on how to deposit into the account. It’s important to remember that anyone can deposit into the account, but only the named recipient(s) can withdraw from it. Then the gift giver just hops online, use a credit card or transfers funds from a checking account, and voila! The cash gift is in the recipient’s account.

The book was designed entirely by hand using traditional way of letterpress. First editions were sold to United Cambodian Center and renowned painter Francesco Clamente.

Originally based on his archives of his most recent design works, Tom Tor’s ‘House of Cards’ is now available. Enjoy his beauty and design in reconstructing and reformatting his world and yours. TT’s house of cards designed by Tom Tor and exclusively available only at Oneless Act.

Title: TomTor ’s “Everything Is More Complicated Then Visible”, is one of my personal book projects. Copies of this limited edition were printed and screen-printed. It was a difficult project for me because I had to learn bookbinding for the first time and believe me; it is not so easy as it looks. Although it appeared seemingly comprehensible, I was faced with one of the most complex and time consuming challenges of bookmaking, but it was great for me and I liked how it turned out. All I really needed was a little bit of patience. If you are interested and would like to purchase the book, please contact me for more info.

TomTor’s Black Clouds was an experimental design book based on the invasion of the Khmer Rouge (the red army) into Cambodia. Using letterpress and copy machine, these pages broke all the rules and discipline of design that I learned from my academic days. This book later inspired me to work on “1975”.

In creating the very first version of an uppercase typeface that contained both a rounded square and an extra bold multiple of two for display faces only, Kampuchea is now available in two weights- extra bold and ultra black. Designed on a grid, it works best at 24-point font or larger and is at its sharpest at 24-point intervals. If you are interested in purchasing multiple licenses please contact me.

I was commissioned to designed a custom typeface for Capri Sun, the type is call All Star-A and All Star-B. This typeface was use by Capri Sun sport drink promotional ad campaign. Green Day is a simple environmental movement to provide a new or renewed conscientious awareness in recognizing the need and occasions for improvements. I was commissioned and invited to participate in a conference at Ikejiri Institute of Design in Tokyo, Japan. Concepts were shared at this Design Pitch, where 11 outstanding creators participated and presented their ideas based on the theme: “The Green Landscape in 2037.”
The green ad campaign that I designed, consisted of a 15 set of FSC compliant postcards, poster and a 1.14 second promo reel. Each set has 15 postcards with clever messages on various ways that one can make a difference. With the use of snail mail and hi-tech pod casts to spread the word, I continue to support their efforts in making the world a better place. In addition to the artistic side of being creative, a humanistic approach of doing projects that are more than commercial oriented is my philosophy in life.

Khmer is a unique typeface in many ways. This typeface was influenced from the Khmer alphabet’s lowercase in which I have tried to be very playful with the typographic treatments that can be produced using a large selection of alternate characters with the feeling of Sanskrit letters. If you like more information about these fonts, please contact me at hello@tomtor.com or click to download on Khmer font for free. Khmer font also comes with Khmer regular, Khmer round bold and Khmer italic, giving endless possibilities to play with for each designer. Please enjoy and your comments are welcomed..

In its developmental stage for years, Tonle Sab’s typeface is a now a distinct font, with regards to both the individual characters and the overall image. They are suitable for designers, who want a soft spot, inclement edged look and love new faces. Corporations have incorporated Tom Tor’s custom made typefaces as part of their visual identities system and now Tonle Sab is available in Light, Light Italic and Bold versions.

I was commissioned by United Cambodia, to come up with a poster, which expressed a new look and feel for the 2008 Khmer New Year’s festival. One of the most challenging things was to redesign their corporate identity and media kit. As you can see, I used the letters of the alphabet combining different layers and colors that explained and captured the fresh new beginnings of spring. This poster was used mainly for advertising and promotional purposes.

In conjunction with Design Tide in Tokyo, I was invited to create a motion trailer called the Tide MOVIE project. Based on this year’s main theme “PLAY”, I aka Eskimo along with a handful of leading designers in the industry was given the challenge of producing an animation that interprets our own unique form of the meaning “PLAY”. The main site and a grand total of about 50 extension sites, including interior shops and galleries in Aoyama, Harajuku, Shibuya, and Roppongi areas displayed our works. The trailer was also featured on Shibuya-109 TV billboard, Harajuku-PARCO TV billboard, Roppongi-Hills TV billboard, and Tokyo Midtown TV billboard.

I just want to take this time to say, “Thank you and I appreciated all the people who attended my exhibition in Roppongi, Tokyo. It was my pleasure meeting all of you at the exhibition opening and a special thanks to Junji Suzuki.” Also, I want to let everybody know that the exhibition will be extended to November 23rd. Immediately after making a speech in front of the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland about TT’s poster that celebrated the indigenous peoples, the UN approached Tom Tor with another project. It focused on something close to Tom’s heart, saving Angkor Wat, a historical ruin in his native born country of Cambodia.
At that time, the UN was organizing a fund-raiser in Europe to collect enough money to restore Angkor Wat. The poster’s goal was to target the most difficult to please, the European elite. It was an enormous challenge since they were influenced by the great Swiss grid design, moved by European modern architecture, and appreciated the classical works of typography. The sunset at Angkor Wat served in part as the inspiration, along with Angkor Wat’s three major towers that are most prominent, in which the tallest one was also incorporated into the logotype.
Today Angkor Wat is in the process of being restored. The message of the poster reached countries all over the world. A greater awareness and understanding was conveyed in this project. Henceforth, many countries were moved and immediately asked to join in the effort to restore this significant symbol of Cambodia. With this prize-winning poster, a piece of history will be able to stand once again.

Tokyo Designer’s Week - Container Exhibition (October 31 - November 4, 2007) is the largest and most influential design event held yearly in Japan. Tom Tor and MEF designed this interactive installation for Teraoka Seiko. TT transformed an empty 40 ft. cargo container into a unique exhibition site. Using customized software and sophisticated programming and hardware; the participant’s weight was recorded on a scale, which then became translated into motion graphics onto a projected screen. The graphics reacted according to the person’s weight, thus producing various hues of color, which were displayed as particle animations and reflected the theme, set forth by TDW called “LOVE”.

Debli means ‘Recycle and Re-create’ which is an exhibition of animal inspired art and media. Ghita is the brainchild of Los Angeles based designer, Alexis Phifer, a modest and quiet entrepreneur, but unquestionably one who is blessed with the gift to design. Absorbing every flavor, color, and melody from her far-reaching travels, it is though her cultural experiences, which remain the inspiration behind Ghita’s ethereal silhouettes and rich hues. Lively color palettes of ultra-luxurious fabrics, which are undeniably suitable for the fashion-forward and the young-at-heart, compliment her designs. Although Ghita Fashions project a playful and bold side to the spirit of adventure, her dresses still maintain a classical elegance along with art-deco elements of asymmetry, tiered skirts, jumpers, and bubbly hems.

When Seasons recordings approached me to work on launching their new clothing line “Seasons cloth”, we weren’t only faced with the challenge of creating clothing lines that express the nature of Seasons Recording’s music, but also in creating a voice that would set Seasons Cloth apart from other youth clothing brands.
Keywords such as Nature, Organic, City and Sound were picked to describe the seasons. These keywords later became fundamental to the clothing line. Although we were intially invited to work on the clothing section of Seasons, we saw an opportunity to use clothing as a bigger vehicle to brand Seasons as a company, instead of just a recording label.
I presented the “Beautiful For the Ugly”, which expressed the true beauty of nature in living in mixed city environments. This core message later convinced the owner and founder of Seasons, Jamie Thinnes, to give us the green light to approach branding for the whole company.

This poster was created for the United Nations campaign, as part of an effort to increase awareness of the danger of existing landmines around the world. The objective was not to simply show the horrifying effects of the explosion or torn body parts, but to express this concern in a poetic way. We wanted to educate the public in a language that even children could understand. This poster was chosen by the United Nations committee as a winner over 1000 posters that were entered in the competition.

An estimated 2.7 million people died in Cambodia from 1975-1979. I was lucky to survive. Everyday I thank God for giving me a second chance at life. This poster is my way of expressing and honoring the thousands of Khmer people who died or were executed in the rice fields. I decided to make this poster as minimal as possible which symbolized this by placing bullets as part of the rice seeds that blossom and letting the poster speak for itself.
